Local car rental agency in the Canary Islands.

Cicar

We had an absolutely delightful experience with Cicar during our trip, and I can’t wait to share the highlights!

  • No credit card hassle! That’s right! I paid with a regular debit card, and even cash was an option. Talk about flexibility!

  • Insurance that covers nearly everything by default—just watch out for those tires! I returned the car in a flash, and the rental contract wrapped up the moment I dropped the key in the garage. Easy peasy!

  • The car was in fantastic condition. Sure, it had a few scratches and dents, but it ran like a dream. The suspension, engine, transmission, and brakes were all in tip-top shape, making those winding roads a joy to navigate.

Now, let’s talk about the model. We rented an Opel Corsa with automatic transmission, which felt like a kind of DSG. Sure, it had a little kick when stopping at traffic lights, but once we hit the road, it was smooth sailing. I highly recommend it for spirited driving—definitely a step up from the manual Renault Clio I used to drive back in the day!

However, if you’re looking for a more confident driving experience, consider opting for something a bit taller, like the VW T-Roc. With its higher clearance and off-road capabilities, it can tackle those notoriously high curbs and let you park under those picturesque Canarian pine trees without a worry. Trust me, scraping the belly of your car is not a pleasant experience!

Fun Fact: Did you know that driving in the Canary Islands can often feel like a scenic tour? With breathtaking views of volcanic landscapes and ocean vistas, it’s no wonder many consider it a driver’s paradise!

Pro Tip: When renting a car in the Canary Islands, always check if your vehicle has a spare tire. It can save you not just money, but also a lot of headache during your adventures!
