Roque Nublo
Posted on January 11, 2025 • 2 min read • 389 wordsA gem of inner Gran Canaria territory. A must-visit. This colossal rock formation offers a plateau and a transcendent experience of feeling wonderfully small in this vast world.
Welcome to Roque Nublo, one of Gran Canaria’s hidden treasures that absolutely deserves a spot on your must-visit list!
Get ready for an invigorating hike; be sure to lace up your mountain shoes and pack plenty of drinking water. Don’t be fooled by the distance that looks shorter from the parking lot—this mountain has a way of stretching your legs further than you might anticipate! While it’s not essential to train in advance, any prior mountain trekking you can squeeze in will certainly give you an edge. And if you happen to have walking poles, they can be a delightful companion on this adventure.
The name “Roque Nublo” translates to “Cloudy Rock,” and during my visit, we were fortunate enough to enjoy a breathtaking view with no clouds or fog in sight. From the summit, you can catch a glimpse of Tenerife and the majestic Teide, the highest peak in Spain. I sincerely wish that you, dear reader, have the same spectacular experience!
On my next visit, I plan to dedicate an entire day to wandering around this beautiful area. Not only will I soak in the stunning views, but I’ll also dodge the bustling crowds at the nearby parking lot, which tends to fill up quickly.
Did you know? Roque Nublo is a volcanic rock that stands at about 80 meters tall, and it is the most iconic landmark in Gran Canaria, often compared to the famous Stone of the Isle of Skye in Scotland.
So pack your bags, grab your sense of adventure, and head to Roque Nublo for an unforgettable experience in the skies of Gran Canaria!
